What the board asks of a journeyman
Six hours of approved CPE before renewal. Same number a master owes, same number a tradesman owes. The hours have to carry health protection, water conservation and energy conservation, and the rest goes to code and rule changes, Texas plumbing law, and safety.
That last part is worth more to a journeyman than it sounds. You are the one running the rough in while the master is on three other jobs. When the code changed on you, nobody sent a memo to the trench. This is where you find out.

How many CE hours does a Texas journeyman plumber need?
Six hours of approved continuing professional education before renewal, the same as a master or a tradesman.
Can a journeyman take the CE online?
Yes. Texas allows approved CPE by correspondence, and that includes online self paced from an approved provider. If you are applying to sit for a licensing exam, confirm your own requirement with the board first.
Does the journeyman CE cover the same material as the master CE?
The required subject areas are the same six hours. We teach one course to all license types, and it is written so a journeyman running the job gets as much out of it as the man who signs the contract.
