I'm Ian Martin, a Texas Master Plumber, License #47421, and I've been in this trade for more than twenty years. I started as an apprentice, got my journeyman license, and ran crews as a foreman on commercial jobs. Underground, rough in, top out, service calls. Whatever the day needed.

Most of my field years were in Southern California on lab, pharma and hospital work. Medical gas, acid waste, purified water, emergency fixtures and process piping, a lot of it in research buildings that stayed open while we worked. That included multiple buildings for Qualcomm and Pfizer, research labs at UC San Diego, the Salk Institute, Amylin, City of Hope, Sony, Kyocera and a number of medical facilities.

I also spent years in San Diego breweries: Stone, AleSmith, Ballast Point, Green Flash, Societe and St. Archer. Stainless process lines, tank farms and cooling loops, where a bad joint means a ruined batch, not just a wet floor.

That work taught me to do it right, label it, test it and be able to prove it a year later. It is the standard I hold myself to and the one I teach, whether the job is a lab or a house.

After the field I moved into plumbing detailing and design, built a plumbing CAD department, and spent years coordinating large commercial projects. Today I teach construction management and plumbing at North Central Texas College, consult on construction projects, and I'm finishing my business degree at Texas A&M.

I started Texas Plumber CE because I've sat through the six hour class where somebody reads slides while the whole room checks their phones. That is not worth a plumber's Saturday or a plumber's money. I write and teach every course here myself, and if your shop wants me to come out and teach your crew, I'll come to you.
