How many hours of continuing education do Texas plumbers need?
TSBPE requires 6 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) before you renew a Master Plumber, Journeyman Plumber, or Tradesman Plumber Limited license. Apprentices who hold certain endorsements and Medical Gas endorsement holders have their own CPE requirements, so check your license type on the TSBPE website.
What topics must the 6 hours cover?
Texas law requires at least part of the 6 hours to cover health protection, energy conservation, and water conservation. The rest covers subjects such as plumbing codes, safety, and changes to the law and rules. Our course is being built to meet every topic requirement in the current TSBPE rules.
Can I take Texas plumbing CE online?
Yes, TSBPE allows CPE to be completed by correspondence, which includes online self paced delivery, as long as the course and provider are approved. We plan to offer online self paced, a printed correspondence workbook, and live classes in the Dallas Fort Worth area.
Does online CE count if I am taking a licensing exam?
Exam applicants have different rules. If you are applying for an exam, confirm with TSBPE whether classroom hours are required for your situation before you choose correspondence.
How do I prove I completed my CE?
Approved providers report completion to TSBPE and issue a certificate of completion. Our plan is same day digital certificates and prompt reporting to TSBPE within the time the rules require.
Who teaches the course?
Ian Martin, a Texas Master Plumber (TSBPE License #47421) with more than 20 years in the plumbing trade, from apprentice and journeyman in the field to plumbing CAD, VDC, and construction technology leadership. He also teaches construction management and plumbing courses at the college level.
Is the course approved by TSBPE yet?
Not yet. The provider and course applications are being submitted to TSBPE. We will not sell a single seat until approval is issued, and this page will be updated the day it is.
How much will it cost?
Pricing will be announced at launch and will be competitive with other Texas providers. Founding list members get founding pricing.
Do you offer group classes for plumbing companies?
Yes. We plan to run CPE for plumbing companies at your shop or a nearby venue, scheduled around your crews. Join the list and choose Group class for my company.
